Webinar: World Accreditation Day 2023

Patients and their Safety at the Heart of
Information Technology

English Webinar | Friday June 9, 2023

On June 9, we joined the global community in celebrating World Accreditation Day. This year's theme of "Supporting the Future of Global Trade" highlights the crucial role that accreditation plays in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Aligned with this theme, a roundtable with expert health care leaders discussed how accelerating digital transformation is shaping their world – and our world.

There has been an increased development in technology to manage and exchange health information between providers, patients, and other stakeholders. The various ethical regulations call on the practitioner to keep an up-to-date record of each patient in a safe place.

However, the use of technology in health care presents challenges, particularly concerning data privacy and security. Cyber-attacks have been rising for several years, and the threat is being felt internationally.

Health information technology can transform health care delivery and improve patient outcomes. Yet, health care organizations and providers should approach the implementation with care and attention to privacy and security concerns.
